Position Title: Associate Pastor - Youth and Family Minister

Accountability: Reports directly to the Senior Pastor The purpose of this full time staff position is to make disciples of Jesus Christ among the youth and families of our congregation and community.

Duties: Under the guidance of the Senior Pastor he will oversee the spiritual welfare of the church with his main emphasis on the youth and families of our church.

The Associate Pastor - Youth and Family Minister will disciple our youth and their families in the following areas:

  • Develop and oversee a family oriented ministry for the youth of The Ripley Church and outreach to the youth of the community
  • Support parents (along with Senior Pastor) in teaching their own children through encouragement, hands-on tools, marriage and family issue seminars, classes and workshops
  • Lead all programming aspects of the Youth and Family Ministry. (This includes, but is not limited to, Sunday School, Jr / Sr High youth groups, discipleship, fellowship and outreach events) Coordinate fund raising activities as needed
  • Plan and provide opportunities for youth and their families to fellowship together and to invite non-church families to participate
  • Foster unity between the youth and the church family
  • Attend school functions, athletic events, plays, lunch hour visits etc. on a regular basis
  • Select biblically sound curriculum for all youth and family-oriented programs and review the effectiveness of the materials being used
  • Teach Sunday School as needed
  • Develop and maintain a Youth and Family Ministry budget
  • Maintain accurate records on attendance for all youth and family ministries, permission slips, medical release forms and adequate mailing information

The Associate Pastor/ Youth and Family Minister will support and assist the Senior Pastor in the following areas:

  • Assist in the Worship Services
  • Administer the Lord’s Supper, conducting baptisms, weddings, and funerals as called upon
  • Preach periodically
  • Participate in Pastoral Care; visitation and prayer
  • Provide monthly report for Lay Council

Staff Relationships: Work schedule to be kept in such a way that adequate time is spent in building relationships with the youth, their families and training youth leaders to accomplish the work of the ministry.

  • Maintain daily schedule in coordination with the Senior Pastor
  • Collaborate weekly with Senior Pastor for prayer and ministry
  • Regularly attend staff meetings to coordinate ministry activities and calendar events
  • Attend Lay Council meetings as a non-voting participant
  • Provide direction to the Youth Committee

Qualifications: Committed Christian living in accordance with the Word of God. One who loves God and is willing to live a life of full-time ministry and maintain a life of Godliness and intimacy with the Lord

  • Agrees with the doctrinal statement of the church and is willing to abide by its constitution and by-laws
  • Understands and is willing to abide by and enforce the Child Protection Policy of the church
  • Has a desire and ability to evangelize the community with the Gospel of Christ
  • Possesses appropriate education for instructing families and youth in their spiritual lives
  • Shows relational skills with youth, parents, staff, and community
  • Knows spiritual gift(s)
